Building New Golf Courses

The Israel Golf Association has recently been leading initiatives to promote and expand golf infrastructure in Israel, with the aim of opening the sport to new audiences and laying the foundation for its growth in the years ahead.

Modern golf development rests on a range of facility types, allowing anyone to discover the sport according to their level, age and where they live.

To that end, the Association is advancing several types of facilities:

  • Full 18-hole courses – developed together with government ministries, the Israel Land Authority, the Ministry of Tourism, local authorities and private developers, to create sports and tourism infrastructure with long-term economic and community impact. Planned projects include state tenders (Eilat, Ashkelon, Dimona, Omer) and local authority initiatives (Lod, Ramat HaSharon).
  • Community 9-hole courses – lower-cost to build and more accessible to local communities.
  • Urban golf and practice centers – sites of 5–10 dunams (roughly 1.2–2.5 acres) featuring a driving range, short-game practice areas, a putting green and several short holes. These centers are designed to fit within city parks and leisure hubs and to serve as an entry point to the sport for new players. The Association is developing a standard product package and business plan that will allow the centers to be run by private franchisees, alongside complementary revenue streams such as cafés, food trucks and leisure activities.
  • Mini-golf facilities – built together with Mifal HaPais and local authorities as part of the Golf for Education program, supporting family, community and intergenerational activity.
  • Advanced simulator centers – combining innovative technology, practice, competition and social activity, with applications in education, leisure and rehabilitation.

Together these form a complete development pathway — from mini golf and simulators, through urban practice centers and 9-hole courses, to full championship courses. This approach can broaden the golf community in Israel, increase participation in the sport, and establish the foundation for additional golf facilities across the country in the future.

Mini-Golf Courses Across Israel in Partnership withMifal HaPais

The Israel Golf Association, together with Mifal HaPais and local authorities across the country, is currently advancing a plan to build a network of community mini-golf facilities.

The facilities are intended for the general public and will offer a first introduction to golf in an accessible, enjoyable and safe environment. The project aims to encourage physical activity, strengthen community ties, create intergenerational encounters, and promote the values of patience, precision, respect and perseverance.

Around ten new mini-golf facilities across Israel are currently under consideration, as part of the vision of bringing golf within reach of every community in the country.

Driving Range

Introduction

Driving ranges are critical infrastructure for the development of golf in Israel. They allow players of every level to practice and improve their game in a professional, accessible environment. Recent years have seen a significant increase in the construction of such facilities across the country.

Urban Practice Facilities

The Israel Golf Association is advancing a plan to build urban practice facilities of approximately 5 to 9 dunams (roughly 1.2–2.2 acres), which will serve as hubs for developing local golf communities across the country.

Each site will combine a netted driving range, advanced golf simulators, short-game practice areas (pitching, chipping and putting), and one or two practice holes for real play. The aim is to let anyone try golf close to home, learn and practice regularly, and in time move on to full play at golf courses to be developed in Israel.

These facilities will provide a foundation for the growth of golf in Israel, for educational and community activity, for training new players, and for building a broad and diverse community of golfers of all ages.
