The R&A has published a new five‑year global strategy aimed at expanding the game of golf and making it accessible to new audiences, with a target of adding approximately 22 million new players and generating significant social and economic value. The plan focuses on increasing participation, strengthening major championships, fostering global partnerships, and highlighting golf’s contribution to health, well‑being, and communities.
This initiative comes amid continued growth in the sport: more than 112 million people now play golf worldwide — an increase of 4.2 million in a single year — with notable expansion among younger players and in new formats such as simulators and training venues.
In parallel, the Israel Golf Association is collaborating with the R&A to launch an educational golf program in Israeli schools in 2026, and has received a £5,000 grant to support the project.
